The Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), through the Directorate of Project Development of the Secretariat of Sustainability, promoted the international course Training of leaders promoting sustainability that was held from September 23 to October 28, this year, through the UANL Sustentable Facebook wall, with the aim of training human resources of the highest technical and human quality capable of recognizing the complex relationship that exists between human societies and the environment, in addition to providing them with conceptual and methodological tools that allow them to design and operate actions in favor of sustainable development.
This important academic event was held within the framework of the celebration of the 87th anniversary of the UANL, and the inaugural ceremony was attended by Mtro. Rogelio Garza Rivera, Rector of the highest university in the state of Nuevo León, who through the message he gave, pointed out the importance of continuing to train leaders who promote sustainability that help strengthen the culture of sustainability in university environments and the society, in addition to highlighting the commitment that the UANL has to continue incorporating the knowledge, practices and skills of sustainability in the comprehensive training of students.
The course counted with the participation of 24 outstanding exhibitors with recognized professional trajectories at national and international level, who addressed different topics within which are the following: environmental education, sustainable development, social responsibility, urban natural areas, environmental legislation, development urban, energy, waste, sustainable mobility, environmental impact, circular economy, among others.
Students and teachers from the faculties of Visual Arts, Communication Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Political Sciences and International Relations, Law and Criminology, Biology, Public Accounting and Administration, Philosophy and Letters, Physics Mathematics, Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, Public Health and Nutrition, Social Work and Human Development, the Institute of Social Research (iinSo) and Preparatory Schools 1, 3 and 15 Florida unit, as well as students from the State University of Morelos.
In the UANL-Sustentable Facebook wall section you will find the recordings of the 24 conferences that were given in the six weekly sessions in which the course was held, and that so far have registered more than 5,000 reproductions and more than 85,000 scopes, managing to capture the interest of the university community and members of the Nuevo Leon society, Mexico and different countries interested in sustainability.
The Autonomous University of Nuevo León continues to promote actions to drive the process towards sustainability and supports the holding of courses and workshops aimed at the university community and members of society, willing to be agents of change towards sustainability.
