The Ministry of Sustainability of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, through the Project Development Department, held the Annual Meeting of the University Academy for Sustainable Development on October 11 of this year starting at 9:00 a.m. Ambassadors hours of the UANL Internationalization Center.
Dr. Sergio Fernandez Delgadillo, Secretary of Sustainability of the UANL was in charge of welcoming the attendees to the meeting, whom he summoned to continue promoting sustainability in the university environment, with special emphasis on academic activities, with the in order to consolidate the UANL as a sustainable and world-class university.
Subsequently, the M.C. Luz María Nieto Caraveo, a full-time professor and civil servant at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, gave a keynote lecture on the “Incorporation of sustainability into university curricula” through which she showed the importance of integrating sustainability with a critical, systematic and complex vision that allows the development of skills for sustainability in university graduates.
For his part, Dr. Carlos Ramírez Martínez Director of Project Development of the Ministry of Sustainability, announced the results of the “Diagnosis on the incorporation of Sustainability in the curriculum of the degree studies, showing attendees the number of Learning Units of each of the degrees offered by UANL that are linked to Sustainable Development issues.
The final presentation of the meeting was in charge of Ms. Myriam Viviana Quistiano Valdez, coordinator of programs for sustainability and Eng. Gloria Nelly Salas Celestino, coordinator of informatics and statistics who made the presentation of the virtual site of the AUDS, based in the virtual platform Share Point, inviting those present to be part of this collaboration network.
The annual meeting of the AUDS was attended by more than 60 university officials, among which the participation of Dr. Benjamín Limón Rodríguez, member of the H. Governing Board of the UANL, Dr. Pedro Leobardo Valdez Tamez, stood out. Director of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the UANL, Dr. Sostenes Méndez Delgado, Director of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Dr. Evangelia Ramírez Lara, Director of Environmental Management and Operational Safety, the MC Félix González Estrada Director of Infrastructure for Sustainability, as well as personnel assigned to central dependencies: Management of the Bachelor Studies System, Center for Research and Development in Health Sciences, and the Faculties of Agronomy, Architecture, Visual Arts, Sciences of Communication, Earth Sciences, Mathematical Physical Sciences, Political Science and International Relations, Chemical Sciences, Public Accounting and Administration, Law and Criminology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, Sports Organization, Psychology and Public Health and nutrition.
The attendees showed a great interest in continuing to incorporate sustainability into the actions and tasks that they perform daily within the university environment, in addition to continuing to join the initiatives proposed by the AUDS.
