Student participation
Student participation
Student participation in sustainability programs, projects and actions carried out at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) has gained significant relevance in recent years.
Aware of its social and environmental responsibility, UANL has developed a wide range of initiatives that actively involve its students in promoting sustainable practices and finding innovative solutions to contemporary environmental challenges.
One of the pillars of student participation at UANL is the integration of sustainability into the academic curriculum. Various academic programs at high schools and colleges have incorporated specific courses and modules on environmental issues, renewable energy, waste management, and conservation of natural resources, among others. This not only provides students with the necessary theoretical knowledge, but also motivates them to get involved in practical projects that have a real impact on their environment.

228 student associations linked to sustainability issues
At the UANL they are registered 228 student organizations that work with issues related to the three aspects of sustainable development: social, economic and environmental, of which 45 correspond to independent organizations, 3 to student chapters, 39 to university federations and 141 to student societies representing each Faculty, both the university federations and the student societies maintain an organizational structure headed by a president and a general secretary, supported by groups of young leaders, who support the implementation of projects included in an annual work program, putting them into practice, with the aim of benefiting the university community and the social environment that surrounds it.

UANL also has a strong Volunteer Program run by the Department of Social Service and Professional Practices, in which students can participate in community projects outside of campus. These initiatives include collaboration with local communities to promote sustainable practices, restoration of degraded ecosystems, and environmental education in schools and community centers. Through these experiences, students not only contribute to the well-being of their community, but also develop greater social and environmental awareness.
Student participation in sustainability programs, actions and projects at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León is an essential component through which a new generation of leaders committed to sustainable development is being trained.
