Responsible consumption

The Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) promotes responsible consumption practices among members of the university community, which include the reduction of the use of single-use plastics, responsible waste management and the implementation of renewable energies, which also They help reduce the institutional carbon footprint.

Reducing the carbon footprint and preserving natural resources directly contributes to the fight against climate change and the protection of the environment.

Responsible consumption promotes civic consciousness by encouraging students to consider the impact of their choices on society and the planet. This can inspire a generation of more engaged and ethical citizens. Additionally, responsible consumption practices mean significant financial savings for users by avoiding unnecessary expenses and wasting fewer resources.

Bebedero

In 2022, the consumption of almost 4 million bottles of 500 ml of water, meaning an approximate saving of 40 million pesos for users.

The program to replace the consumption of packaged beverages with drinking water available on the Ciudad Universitaria Campus, through 30 public drinking fountains supplied by two water treatment plants, in 2022 recorded a consumption of 1,959,757 liters of water, which prevented consumption of 3,919,757 500 milliliter bottles of bottled water in PET containers, which meant savings for users of around $40 million pesos per year.

From an environmental point of view, the drinking program prevented the generation of 47 tons of PET, which in turn prevented the use of 255 m2 of space in landfills, among other environmental benefits mentioned below:
